Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the delicate underlying facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown. The more emotion you show, the deeper these wrinkles and lines are likely to be. While you may have earned every one of your worry lines, you don't have to show them anymore. Now, thanks to BOTOX® Cosmetic, dynamic lines can be dramatically softened and you can improve the appearance of worry lines, frown lines, laugh lines, crow's feet and other dynamic wrinkles.

Facial wrinkles and creases begin to appear as the underlying collagen and support begins to break down and wear out. While this breakdown is part of the natural aging process, it can also result from excessive squinting, frowning and smiling. Fillers are injected in the office to restore the volume and support that has been lost. Injections with fillers are a safe FDA approved effective, time-tested, non-surgical wrinkle treatment that provides immediate results. Examples of FDA approved fillers are Restylane, Hylaform, and the forms of Collagen (such as Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast).

Superficial and Medium Depth Chemical Peels are applied to the skin to diminish fine lines and wrinkles and reduce pigmentation. The recovery period is proportional to the depth of the peel (e.g., superficial peels have minimal recovery). A choice of peeling agent is selected that matches your type of skin. The goal is to produce the next level of skin rejuvenation.

The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Fotofacial is a non-surgical treatment that improves the skin tone and texture of the face. The IPL is much like a laser but produces light of a broad spectrum instead of only one wavelength. IPL energy includes all of the light wavelengths that are optimal for removing a variety of discolored skin lesions including red and blue excess blood vessels and brown age spots. The IPL also produces infra-red energy, which can stimulate the skin to produce more collagen. Wrinkles will become smoother and pores will shrink. In addition to the face, the neck and upper chest areas can also be treated.

IPL Fotofacial treatments are gentle and minimally painful (no anesthesia is needed). There is no "down time" after treatment, only temporary redness that fades within hours. Patients receiving Fotofacial treatments do not need to take any time off from their usual activities. Improvement of age spots and dilated blood vessels can be seen after only one treatment (see photos) and skin texture progressively improves with additional treatments. IPL Fotofacials are one of the most effective treatments for facial redness due to rosacea.

Whether you're a man or a woman, you may have noticed fine, little red veins on the nose, chin, or cheeks that weren't there before. These are telangiectasias or facial spider veins, and they appear on both men and women as a normal part of aging. They can also result from pregnancy, childbirth, birth control pills, estrogen-replacement therapy, sun damage, the skin condition called rosacea, and even corticosteroids. Although not usually a medical problem, telangiectasias can be an aesthetic one that make-up usually doesn't cover adequately.

In the past, there was little you could do about spider veins. But now laser technology involving new non-invasive lasers has revolutionized treatment so that many telangiectasias can be virtually erased.

Spa Cosmedica offers the latest technology available for the treatment of acne. This treatment, a type of "photodynamic therapy", involves the use of a medication that is taken up by bacteria in the oil glands and converted into a light sensitive substance. This substance selectively absorbs the laser light, destroying the bacteria, ultimately improving acne without the side effects seen in systemic therapy.
Photodynamic therapy is another exciting modality to fight the aging process and rejuvenate older skin. There is no significant downtime. A series of treatments is recommended.

Our laser hair removal system delivers 21st century technology in our office for the treatment of this distressing problem. Our laser hair system can remove hair from all parts of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back, as well as sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, and bikini line. Entire areas of skin are treated at once, making laser hair removal much faster and less painful than electrolysis.

Lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This laser energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment into smaller particles that are then removed by the body's immune system.

A new Erbium laser safely uses laser technology to rejuvenate the skin with diminished downtime compared to traditional laser peels. Using a topical anesthetic and with only 3-4 days of recovery, patients emerge with healthier looking skin.

CoolTouch non-ablative laser treatments helps to renew skin by stimulating the generation of new collagen formation. Treatments can be effective in plumping fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, as well as in reducing acne scarring. CoolTouch can also be used to treat and improve active acne conditions on the face and back, by targeting heat in and around the oil glands in the upper layers of the skin, to change their activity and function.
